About Robert Thomson
Robert Thomson, J.D. was awarded both the Bachelor of Music degree with a concentration in trumpet performance and the Performer's Certificate from the University of Louisiana at Monroe, where he studied with Marilynn Gibson. In addition, Mr. Thomson has studied with Robert Walp, Dr. Richard Harris, Charlie Porter, and Gregory Wing, and has performed in masterclasses with Armando Ghitalla, Wiff Rudd, and Rex Richardson.
Professionally, Mr. Thomson served for nine years as a member of the 156th Army Band of the Louisiana Army National Guard, including as principal trumpet. He has performed with the Monroe (LA) Symphony Orchestra, the Barak Shrine Circus, the Woodlands (TX) Symphony Orchestra, the Houston Civic Jazz Orchestra, the Brass Factory brass quintet, and various other ensembles. Mr. Thomson has performed in shows at the Wortham and Hobby Centers, as well as venues throughout the Greater Houston area.
As a soloist, Mr. Thomson has performed Concerti by Altenburg, Arutunian, Haydn, Hummel, and Neruda, as well as Copland's Quiet City.
